Welcome to the Squigglefly Challenge Blog!

Hello everyone! Are you ready for this week's challenge? Well, first let me tell you last week's winner.  We had a great challenge last week to add some ribbon, baker's twine or twill to your project.  Our winner is Linda Palmer who created a wonderful card using Noahs Tire Swing from Squigglefly artist Cheryl Alger.

 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This week's challenge is SFC3413 Sir Shapes a lot

The contest is to use at least three different shapes on your card.  For example, perhaps you cut out your image in a rectangle, your sentiment in a decorative oval and have a star shaped embellishment.  As long as you are showing at least three different shapes of any kind (counting your card shape, die cuts, embellishments,...).  We'd love for you to use a Squigglefly image, to be prize eligible it's required, but everyone is welcome to play along.
Let's start with some inspiration from the Holley Hobbyists:

Pat Martin crafted a wonderful card showing circular sun, oval clouds, triangular base for the skateboard to run down (well, you get the idea here).  She's using a brand new image from artist Cheryl Alger called Grip It and Rip It Maddie.

Jan Marshall  also uses many wonderful shapes, circles, hearts, decorative square, and this wonderful home from artist Judith Hart.  This stamp is called Home.

Elizabeth Hart designed a lovely card using paper triangles, ovals, embellishment flowers and circles....so many wonderful shapes.  This gorgeous new image come from Squigglefly artist Pamela Lehto.  This image is called Rose Bouquet.  How beautiful is her combination?  I just love her paper piecing of the image.

Charlene Mitchell used a fun new image from artist Judith Hart.  This guy is called Surf Dude..  Then she incorporated lots of fun shapes on her card, the round sun, rectangle for the image, oval sentiment. Nice work.

Darlene Pavlick created this beautiful card with two new images from artist Dawn Collins.  She's using Truck Sentiments and Truck Image.  I just love how she has combined them together here.  The Truck Sentiments also has three addition cute saying included.

Tammy Hair created a stunning card using a cute circle, darling heart, quilt of squares, so many gorgeous shapes!! She's also using a wonderful new image from Lynne Stansberry called Sweets to the Sweet.  This darling image also comes with three adorable sayings.

And lastly, I (Holley Barnhart from Holley's Blog)  used a great image from artist Judith Hart.  This image is called Love, Joy, and Peace.  For shapes, I added tall rectangles, stars, and hearts.

I hope these cards have inspired you to make a card to play along this week.  You are always welcome to play no matter what images you use, but to be eligible for the prize, please use at least one stamp from Squigglefly!

Squigglefly Challenge #30, SFC3013 Piece me or Pierce me

Welcome to the Squigglefly Challenge Blog!

Hello everyone! Are you ready for this week's challenge? Well, first let me tell you last week's winner.  We had a great challenge last week to create a card using pink or baby blue.   We had a beautiful winner from Vicki who created a gorgeous pink card using Cheryl Alger's Simple Gift of a Flower.

Please contact Holly at usyungs@gmail.com for your prize.
 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This week's challenge is SFC3013 Piece me or Pierce me.

Create a card using either technique. Paper Piecing or Paper Piercing.
Are you familiar with these techniques?  Here's some wonderful examples from the Hobbyists. Paper Piercing is done when you use something sharp, such as an awl, thick needle, tip of your scissors to pierce holes in your paper creating a decorative effect.  Paper Piecing is a technique when an image (or background image) is printed out on multiple colored papers or printed papers and then combined, i.e. pieced, into the final image.
Let's start with some inspiration from the Holley Hobbyists:

Pat Martin crafted a wonderful paper piecing example using a beautiful image from artist Pamela Lehto.  This tasty treat is called Cup with a Cherry.  Doesn't it look yummy?

Jan Marshall  also used paper piecing on this elegant rose.  This gorgeous image is from artist Pamela Lehto and is called For All You Do.  It also comes with a nice sentiment for just $3.  Beautiful work.

Elizabeth Hart designed a lovely card using paper piecing for the beautiful picnic blanket.  This image is from artist Lynne Stansberry and is called Picnic for Two.  Looks like a happy place to be.

Charlene Mitchell used an adorable teddy from artist Cheryl Alger.  This cute image is Bentley's Bee Fortune.  She's using paper piecing on her cute little bees and some piercing too!  How wonderful for this week's challenge.

Darlene Pavlick created a wonderful summer theme paper piercing around her fun cut of this adorable image from Cheryl Alger.  This image is "It's a Jump Rope Kind of Day Maddie."  Too cute!

Tammy Hair created a stunning card using a brand new image from Fawn Palmer called A Zombie.  It comes with the sentiment shown and inside the card says "they just keep coming and coming until you're dead."  There's an additional sentiment, "Here's hoping your birthday is a real killer."  Ha!  Too great and just $3 at the store.

And lastly, I (Holley Barnhart from Holley's Blog)  used a great image from artist Fawn Palmer called Beautiful Mermaid.  She comes with both the sentiments shown plus others for just $3!  I used paper piercing around the image and both the sentiments.

I hope these cards have inspired you to make a card to play along this week.  You are always welcome to play no matter what images you use, but to be eligible for the prize, please use at least one stamp from Squigglefly!

Coming August 3rd!

August's release of new images is almost upon us, and we will be welcoming a new artist to Squigglefly!  Judith Hart has some wonderful sweet illustrations that we know you will love!  Here's a little about Judith

Hi, I'm Judith. I live in Norwich, UK with my son, Michael and our little dog Poppy. In 2008, at the grand old age of 40, I was finally brave enough to embrace my creative urges and went to college to study for a foundation degree in art and wellbeing; the best thing I ever did! Since then I have been stretching my artistic wings and am gradually learning to fly. My illustrations are based on the cute little things in life. I hope you enjoy them.

Please come to Squigglefly August 3rd to see Judith's artwork as well as many  more from all of your favorite artists!  It's a release you won't want to miss!
