Artist Sandra Caldwell to join Squigglefly!

We are so happy to announce that another artist has joined Squigglefly!  Sandra Caldwell's designs will make their debut on June 7th.  Here is a little about her and her artwork, which we know you will all enjoy!

My name is Sandra Caldwell

I am a wife of 41 years, a  mother and grandmother from Sunny California.

I have been making, creating, designing digis,  doodles ,

ATC ACEO Cards , doodles paintings and clay, paper clay

makedos for over 33 years...online and offline for sale.

Known as Sandra of  Babycakes Doodles & Designs 

I usually make whimsical art  with a focus on, Black folkart, childrens type art

and things  made for all holidays. 

Mostly one-of-a-kind , originals doodle paintings, ATC  ACEO Cards with  some prints for sale...

and  all  my doodles are inspired by my grandkids and family & friends and all come from the heart.

I have 4 blogs myself,  like potato chips...

One was not enough.

Squigglefly Challenge #20, SFC2014 All Shapes and Sizes

This week's challenge is SFC2014 All Shapes and Sizes!
 

This week the challenge is called "All shapes and sizes"....I know we always like to use matching shapes as layering borders on our cards.  I layer an image on a rectangle, then use a larger rectangle to lay it on and so forth. Well, this week let's do layering with DIFFERENT shapes! Cut your image in one shape, layer it on a different shape. Maybe even two different shapes? let's see what we can all come up with!  We'd love for you to use a Squigglefly image, to be prize eligible it's required, but everyone is welcome to play along.
 

Let's start with some great examples from the Holley Hobbyists:
 

 Pat Martin  really nailed this week's theme!  WOW, look how she used four different shapes on her card and they all look fabulous together!  Stunning.  This image is from Squigglefly artist Cheryl Alger and is called Say Cheese Please.  Nice work Pat!

Jan Marshall  created this sweet card.  Her large background on her scallop card is a square, topped with a star and then her fun image!  This image is called Gizmo and comes from artist James Horvath.  Isn't this a great card for a boy?

 

Elizabeth Hart created a stunning card filled with gorgeous layered shapes, a large rounded square, a beautiful image in a rectangle, a half circle, some smaller rectangular embellishments and some great border shapes.  This new image is from Cheryl Alger called Joey's got Spunk. So lovely. 

 



Charlene Mitchell made a great boy theme card using a brand new image from artist James Horvath.  This image is called Skateboarder .  Don't you just love her card's shape?  Gorgeous work Charlene.

 

Darlene Pavlick created this fun filled sport themed card using a great image from artist James Horvath.  This image is called Gizmo.  Don't you love all the shapes you see on there? How about those googly eyes on the word ZOOM?



 

 Tammy Hair created this great guy card using a brand new image from artist James Horvath. This cutie is called Dog Artist.  How perfect is her card using this image?  I am stunned by the beautiful clouds she added to the image, not to mention her layering using polka dots and a square border, how about that pile of bones?  TOO cute!!



And lastly, I (Holley Barnhart from Holley's Blog)  thought I would make a fun card using a brand new image  from artist James Horvath called Messy Kid's Bed.  I am using layers as well as embossing plus a sentiment that says "play."

Squigglefly Challenge #18, SFC1814 Run for the Border

This week's challenge is SFC1814 Run for the Border!

  The challenge this week is Run for the Border.  Add some decor the border of your card. This could be a punch, some decorative scissors, a fun brush of ink, some beautiful ribbons or laces, or surprise me with something fun!  We'd love for you to use a Squigglefly image, to be prize eligible it's required, but everyone is welcome to play along.

Let's start with some inspiration from the Holley Hobbyists:

 Pat Martin used a bright and beautiful floral heart image on her stand up card.  Her border is a gorgeous punch.  This image is from brand new Squigglefly artist Niina Niskanen and is called Spring Heart.  Nice work Pat!

Jan Marshall  created this sweet card.  I totally love this image.  This image is called Twinkle Toes and comes from artist Fawn Palmer.  She added a beautiful and delicate border to the base.  Don't you love the sentiment on the balloon? It says "Hope your day is Tutu-ly Fabulous!" the image also comes with three more sentiments for just $3

Elizabeth Hart created a wonder boy themed card.  How great is that?  This new image is from brand new Squigglefly artist James Horvath called Skateboarder.  I just love the red and yellow border she added and how it matches the skateboard and helmet on this image. 



Charlene Mitchell made this stunning card using a beautiful mermaid from artist Niina Niskanen. This image is called Mer butterflies. Don't you love how she colored all the edges of her card with colored dots?  What a clever border design!

Darlene Pavlick created this fun filled sport themed card using a great image from artist Cheryl Grant Alger.  This image is called The Game is in the Player.  Don't you love the soccer paper and how she added ladybugs on there?  Her gorgeous border is wonderful matching vines to the colors on her card.



 Tammy Hair created this great guy card using a brand new image from artist Fawn Palmer. This cutie is called Recycle Guy.  What a clever border! Wow, Tammy.  Both the sayings shown are included with the image.



And lastly, I (Holley Barnhart from Holley's Blog)  thought I would make a fun card using a brand new image  from artist Cheryl Grant Alger called Say Cheese Please.  I am using matching paper as well as a strip of mica cardstock as my border.

Introducing Two New Artists!

We are so pleased to announce two new artists who will start offering their artwork at Squigglefly in May.  Look for their debut on May 3rd.

Niina Niskanen

I'm 26 years old fantasy artist and illustrator.
I live in north of Finland and get inspired by fairy tales, nature and legends from my own country and around the world. My favorite subjects to paint are fairies, angels, mermaids, animals, places I've visited and wish to visit and all the four seasons. Painting is very magical process for me. Turning my visions and dreams to images on paper for others to enjoy. I want to create art that inspires and make people smile.
Beside painting I do all kind of crafts from jewelry and sculpting to knitting and embroidery. I also paint miniature artworks for doll houses and roomboxes also create miniatures from wood and clay.

James Horvath

I've been a professional Designer and illustrator since 1991. I worked as a senior designer/illustrator for a large corporation and as an art director for a medium sized ad agency for about eight years. Since 1999, I've been a freelance artist. In 2002 I started Jamestoons Studios to focus more on illustration and to work on my own children's books. I enjoy the challenge of working in many different industries. I'm fortunate to do what I really enjoy doing. I've always drawn and have been inspired by art of all types. I'm mostly self taught, but I've taken a couple of classes at various schools for fun and inspiration. I work in a small single room studio. I have a large lighted drawing table, a couple of banjos and guitars and a MAC G5 quad-core tower with a 30" studio display and a Wacom Cintiq tablet. And lots of pencils and erasers
