SFC122 Tickle My Fancy

Hi everyone! Happy Halloween! It's me, Holly filling in for Marlene today. Marlene has been without power since Saturday due to a snow storm so I am posting her challenge today. It's such a fun one, and one that is right up my alley - Tickle My Fancy - make a funny card - one that will tickle both Marlene's and my fancy. You know that we both love cards that make us laugh. Use a funny image, or use a funny sentiment, or use both! Just make us laugh!

Before I show you the fabulous cards the Marvels have done, let me give a big thanks and congratulations to our winner of last week's Saying Thanks challenge, Karen Gumino! Karen's cute card using Candy Corn Girl captured our hearts by combining thank you and Halloween. Karen, Please contact Holly for your image.
Thanks for joining the challenge!

To win you must use a Squigglefly image.
Freebies are available on the Squigglefly website.

Thanks to everyone who participated last week's challenge
(but we would love to see even more players)!
We can't wait to see your projects for this week!

Today is the last day to buy images at Squigglefly to be entered into the Mega Giveaway! If there are any images you've been thinking about getting, today would be the day to do it because the giveaway would be awesome to win! Three winners will be announced tomorrow!

Here's this week's challenge:
SFC122 - Tickle My Fancy

Create a card that is funny by using a funny image or sentiment. Anything that will make us laugh and make Marlene smile despite being without electricity!

Janice
has used Marlene's Cranky Calvin image and come up with a pretty funny sentiment for it! I love the paper pieced robe she made for him and the embossed background is great!

Deena Perreault use Brian Lock's cute November Turkey to make us laugh by pairing it with a clever sentiment! I love the silverware embellishing she did with this!

Next up is Jane Westling who used an image that's funny all by itself. This Soaking Kitty is also one of Brian Lockhart's. Jane went the extra mile by creating an easel card! What a fun way to rib a friend about a blunder!

Next up is Laura Boyd who definitively made me laugh with Marlene's Gassy Gramps image! I love the sentiment Laura came up with for this and her choice of papers and layout is great!

And now we come to Rhonda Zmikly's creation. Again, the sentiment has me rolling on the floor, and I love the little dimensional bird she has added ! Rhonda used Brian's November Turkey to make her card. I also love the added cornstalks and pumpkin!

And since I'm doing this post I'll post my creation a little early.

I also used one of Brian Lock's (are we seeing a pattern here?) image. this one is Party Pig, but I colored it so it looks more like a cow. If you overlook the curly tail, I think it will pass for a cow. If you want to see the punch line you will have to visit my blog - yes I'm actually that much of a comment whore (did I really say that? yes I did because I think that in itself will make Marlene laugh! )

Everyone can use a laugh now and then, so why not surprise someone with a card for no reason other than to bring a smile to their face? Get busy and make something! Thanks for viewing our creations and I hope we started your day with a smile!

Happy Halloween!

***Please take a look at the challenge rules- we updated them recently*** We realize that many people don't have blogs, but instead participate in our challenges using on-line galleries and we love that you are helping us spread the word about Squigglefly! However, many of the galleries require passwords and not all of us at Squigglefy belong to every gallery or group. To help us make sure we don't miss your artwork, we are asking that if you do use an online gallery that you leave us a comment on the challenge post. That way we'll be sure to have a member of the Squigglefly team who is a member of that gallery (SCS, CDAC, PCP, etc) can validate your entry.
1) If you up-load your creation to any on-line photo galleries, please use SFC122 for your keywords when loading your creation photo there.
1b) please leave a comment on the challenge blog post so that someone from Squigglefly can validate your entry for the prize.
2) You don't *have* to include a Squigglefly image on your creation, but in order to qualify for the prize you will need to use one! You can also combine SF images with non-SF images to qualify! Don't have one? There are several FREEBIES you can grab!
3) You have one week to complete the challenge and it will close Sunday evening. The winner will be announced at the same time the new challenge post comes up...so be sure to check back EVERY Monday to see if you are a winner!

Here's this week's challenge:
SFC121- SAYING THANKS

Create a thank you note or other way of expressing gratitude!
The holidays are fast approaching- show your family, friends, teachers,
neighbors, church family that you appreciate them.

Now go make something!

This week, we have a guest designer joining us, Kathy Bradley. Kathy won a Squigglefly challenge earlier this summer and we invited her to join us for this week's challenge.
Thanks for joining us Kathy!

Kathy used "Thank You Tree" by artist Michelle Bertuzzi. Look at how she added color to the tree. I love the combo of patterned paper and the graceful drape of the leafy swirl. Well done!

And now for the creations from my team, Heather's Headliners:

Peggy used "Dotted Circle Sentiments" by artist Jess Holland. This card is so elegant with the dainty print, fluffy bow and pearl accents. Lovely!

Terri used "Cottage Window" by design team member and Squigglefly artist, Deena Perreault. Look at how Terri added brick walls and a texture shutter to the cottage. So homey!

Stephanie used "Heartful Wreath" by artist Lynne Stansbery. I love how it is colored and the touch of elegance with the white embossedbackground. Stephanie mentioned she made this card for Breast Cancer Awareness but I could see this versatile image used for Christmas and Valentine's Day as well.

Pat got a little saucy with "Badonkadonk" by Squigglefly co-owner Chesney Young. I can tell Pat had fun making this card just by looking at it! Look at how she paper pieced the dress with marble paper- it looks a lot like fabric. Ooh La La!

Holley used "Eat Beef" by artist Brian Lock. Holley fussy cut the sign and added a border to make a really cute Thanksgiving card. I promise I won't call PETA!

Debbie used "Angelipooch" by artist Crissy Armstrong. Love those shiny wings and the puffy clouds in the sky. This card is a loving tribute to her beloved family pet whom they lost this week. We're all thinking of you and your family, Debbie.

Tammy used "Apple Season" by Deena Perreault. I love the Autumn feel from the perfectly colored apples to the background paper and twine. Anybody else craving an apple?

Heather
(that's me) used "Dotted Circle Sentiments" by artist Jess Holland. I went outside the box (bad joke) and made a box and embellished with lots of stars.

Thanks for viewing our creations. Now get off the computer and go make something to share with us!

Squigglefly Challenge #120 - SFC120 - FACE YOUR FEARS!

BOO!!!  Did I scare ya?  :)

Congratulations to the winner of last week's YIPES STRIPES challenge:
The winner is Linda!

Congratulations, Linda!
Please contact Holly for your image.
Thank you for participating in the Squigglefly Challenge last week.

To win you must use a Squigglefly image.
Freebies are available on the Squigglefly website.

Thanks to everyone who participated last week's challenge (but we would love to see even more players)!
We can't wait to see your projects for this week!
*****************************
Now... onto THIS week's challenge:
SFC120- FACE YOUR FEARS
Halloween is coming...let's see some Halloween creations...the scarier, the better....OR, just face your fears! Spiders? Snakes? Heights? Let's see a creation that addresses what you fear! Fearless? Make something up!
Show us your creativity and have fun!

This week, my team, Squigglefly's Marlene's Marvels
created the following this week for your inspiration:

JANE created this hilarious card!  I guess she's afraid of bats of the orange flowery type.  :)
Image is from the HALLOWEEN BUNCH set by artist Brian Lock.

Moving right along, we have this one (I can totally relate - I hate spiders!)
Laura used EEK! SPIDER! by artist Marlene S

Rhonda still believes witches are out there, and are real!  ;)

I think I sense a recurring theme, here.  EEK!  Another spider!
If all spiders were this cute, though, I'm sure I wouldn't be so afraid of them.
Perhaps Rebecca wouldn't be either...teehee.

Deena is more skeeved out by dust bunnies monsters under the bed!
She says "NO! You can't make me clean under the bed!"
Deena used BED MONSTER by artist Marlene S.

Jan joins Rhonda in being scared of witches.
(Okay, I concede - they may have made that up....or I did...teehee.  It's entirely possible they were just going for the Halloween card theme, eh?)
Jan used WITCH MOON by artist Brian Lock.

And finally, last but not least, Marlene (that's me) had planned to keep the spider theme going.
(Come on, who is really afraid of a cute kitten in a jack-o-lantern?)
Alas, I thought I'd throw in a twist just to keep you all on your toes.
First - the spider card:
I used Halloween Kitty Boo! by artist Marla Shega for this one.

But since spiders were running rampant, and we needed to tone that down a bit,
out came the boobies!!  (More specifically, the dreaded annual squishy test otherwise known as the mammogram!)  Yes, I know it saves lives - my own mother is a 21 year survivor.  :)  Still, the contraption scares the heebie jeebies out of me.
For this one, I used LIVE A LITTLE by artist Marlene S. (That's me.)

Hope you enjoyed our creations today!
We showed you ours...
Now - let's see yours!

Squigglefly Challenge #119 - SFC119 - YIPES STRIPES

Happy Columbus Day to our US friends!
Welcome to our new challenge!

Congratulations to the winner of last week's paper piecing challenge:
The winner is Anne!

Congratulations, Anne!
Please contact Holly for your image.
Thank you for participating in the Squigglefly Challenge last week.

To win you must use a Squigglefly image.
Freebies are available on the Squigglefly website.

Thanks to everyone who participated last week's challenge (but we would love to see more players)!
We can't wait to see your projects for this week!

Now... onto THIS week's challenge:
SFC119- YIPES STRIPES
Use stripes somewhere on your card.
They can be part of the image, background paper or an embellishment.
Show us your creativity and have fun!

This week, my team, Squigglefly's Heather's Headliners
created the following for your inspiration:

Terri
used "Nerd Boy Skeleton"by artist Marlene S. (you'll see her name several times today). Terri cleverly created a whole scene worthy of the Addam's family. Fantastic details like the fence and a popped up pumpkin. Boo!

Tammy chose "Nerd Girl Witch" by artist Marlene S. Check out the cool toned stripes and the angled sentiment with stars. What lovely coloring- so many shades of purple.

Holley showed off "Nerdy Cat Girl" by artist Marlene S (again). Notice the neutral with a splash of orange color palette and the sideways sentiment.

Debbie used "Hugs" by Angela Donato and the accompanying "Sending you Hugs" sentiment by Jess Holland. What beautiful coloring and such soft colors. Aren't the flowers, fussy cut sentiment feminine and sweet and perfect for the image?

Peggy used "Nerdy Girl Witch" by you guessed it- Marlene S. Very cool crisscrossed ribbon and a sparkly vertical sentiment.

Stephanie used "Shy Bear- Caring Bear" by artist Lynne Stansbery. I love the contrast of the papers and did you notice the messages of hope on the white layer?

Pat used "Witch on a Pumpkin" created by artist Jackie Matthews. Don't miss how Pat fussy cut the main image so it looks like the bat are flying and the vines are growing! Love the added touch of glitz on the hat band and broom too.
